About

We welcome women of all ages who have an interest in singing barbershop style harmony. No prior musical training is necessary, as we are an educational organization. The only prerequisites are:

  • You must be female
  • You must love music
  • You must carry a tune

We have members coming from all corners of West Michigan, so car pools are available.

Meet Our New Director!

Annette Jurcevic’s breadth of education and experience affords her unique strengths as our new director.

While pursuing graduate studies at Indiana University, she turned her focus to vocal music, completing a cognate in choral conducting as part of her master’s degree (1997). At The University of Texas at Austin she directed the UT Women’s Chorus while earning a master’s degree in choral conducting (2003). Also while living in Austin, Texas, she conducted the Austin Sängerrunde Damenchor – a German women’s chorus – from 2002 to 2010. She also plays many instruments including the piano, flute and trombone, and has a rich orchestral background.

Annette most recently was involved as a quartet and chorus coach for the Austin, Texas Men’s barbershop chapter and is a graduate of the Barbershop Harmony Society’s Harmony University College. Along with directing West Shore she is also the new director for the Muskegon Shoreline Men’s Barbershop Chorus. She hails from Ludington where she has been involved in community choruses, orchestras, as well as community theater.  At her interview she confessed that her two loves are Classical Music and Barbershop!

Annette will begin her tenure with West Shore on January 3, 2012.
